Cody Elementary Students… are you ready to party with a couple hundred of your closest friends?  CAN is hosting a party for all 4th and 5th grade students in Cody schools!  You should probably tell your parents about it so they know where you’re gonna be next Friday night:

Where? Rec Center / Pool
Who? 4th and 5th grade students in Cody Schools
When? Friday, January 11th from 5:30PM - 6:00PM
How much?  ZERO dollars ($0.00)

This will be a blast!  The pool will be open, so bring a swim suit if you want to swim!  There will be contests, limbo, basketball, swimming, D.D.R., Guitar Hero III, and more!

This is one party you don’t want to miss!

Cody CAN is hosting a dance for Cody Middle School students on Friday, December 14th.  Everyone is invited!  Please bring a can of food to get in (all food will go to Cody Cupboard for charity).

When/Where: Friday, December 14th. 6-9pm. @ Cody Middle School

Who: All Cody Middle School Students (only CAN Members are eligible for prizes)

Cost: You must bring a can of food for charity to get in the door.  Bring some money if you want pizza and pop.  Raffle tickets for some great prizes will also be available (CAN MEMBERS ONLY)

Attire: “Nice/festive”.  No jeans, no street clothes.  This is not a barn dance, a street dance, or a dirty dance.

Girls: Please wear a dress, skirt, or dress pants.  No spaghetti straps, off-the-shoulder dresses, bare-midrifs, etc.  If you decide to wear something skimpy then you won’t be allowed inside. 

Boys: Please wear khakis, cords, slacks, or other dress pants with a nice shirt.  No baggy pants, no shirts with funny/stupid/offensive sayings on them, etc.  If you decide to dress badly then you won’t be allowed inside.

Cody Middle School Students,

We want you to use your laptops to create an original Public Service Announcement about the benefits of being drug and alcohol-free. You can enter individually or you can do it with a group of friends. We will put the best one on TV!

Steps to create a PSA:
1) Fill out the entry form.
2) Create Your PSA
3) Burn your PSA to a CD and get it to us!

Guidelines:
-It has to between at least 30 seconds long, but cannot exceed 60 seconds in length.
-The PSA should be about the benefits of being drug and alcohol free
-It can feature you and any of your CAN Member friends
-Everyone in the video must be a CAN Member, or we can’t accept it
-No obscenities or inappropriate content.

Check back later this week for some examples! Entries will be due by the end of January 2008; winter break could be a good time to work on it!

We are excited to have a chance to play DDR with Mrs. Dufloth’s 5th grade classroom this Friday.  It will be a blast!

Congratualations Sunset on a great celebration!  We had a great time seeing you and handing out awards for the Design Your Own Trading Card contest… we will post the winning entries online for everyone to see soon!

Congratulations to the Decapitators, the winning team at this year’s CAN CHS Dodgeball Tournament!

10 teams battled for dominance on Friday night during Cody CAN’s annual event. Teams and spectators also had a chance to play Guitar Hero III, sing Karaoke, and pig out on shakes and pizza. Everyone seemed to have a blast and the event went great!

Mr. Laing’s 4th grade class is the first to invite CAN to play DDR at Livingston elementary this year!  We will be bringing in the big pads and playing for an hour or so Wednesday morning… we’ll see if Mr. Hume can dance as well as he can kick!!!
