Elementary

On Friday, April 24th, hundreds of 4th and 5th grade CAN Members came to the rec center for the 2009 Elementary Party. It was tons of fun! There was basketball, dodgeball, face painting, DDR, Guitar Hero, limbo, pictures, food… and lots more! The high school CAN Members had a total blast hanging out with the elementary members.

CAN hosted a movie party at Sunset for all the 4th and 5th grade CAN Members… but after everyone got there, the movie didn’t work! Of course, that didn’t stop us from having a great time! We played DDR, tag, had hula-hoop contests, and generally partied it up for a couple of hours. Thanks to everyone at Sunset for helping turn our technical glitch into a great party!

We had a movie party with all the 4th and 5th grade CAN Members at Eastside, and it was a ton of fun! We watched Kung-Fu Panda, snacked on popcorn from the Big Horn Cincema, and basically had a great time. Thanks to Eastside’s new speakers and projector, the movie looked and sounded great! Thanks for letting us hang out with you, Eastside CAN kids!

Mr. Laing’s class reached 100% CAN Membership! To celebrate, a bunch of our high-school CAN Members brought a giant stack of pizza and hung out with the new CAN Members for lunch. They even went out to recess!

Basketball fans: Jake’s School of Hoops is just around the corner!  This year Jake Hannon will be running the 3rd annual basketball camp from June 2nd - June 6th (the very beginning of summer).  The camp is for all current Cody students through 7th grade… we will be sending out entry forms to you soon!

We had a special showing of Alvin and the Chipmunks for Sunset CAN members in the gym.  We brought popcorn, candy, and drinks for a concession table, giant speakers for theater style sound, and rolled out big comfy mats for everyone to settle in on.  We had a blast!  Check out pictures here… Sunset Movie Pictures

Last Friday, Sunset hosted the Academy Awards of Education!  We were there to present the Outstanding CAN Member awards: 2 students from each 4th/5th grade classroom received a custom statue and a free movie at Big Horn Cinemas.  It was a great event!

 Everyone was dressed up in spectacular clothes, and dozens of students were awarded for the great roles they play in their classrooms.  I took a ton of pictures of award winners and all the fashional people at the event… here they are!

Over 200 4th and 5th graders came to the Elementary Fun Night last Friday… it was a ton of fun! We partied for hours! The kids were awesome and crazy and still managed to be well-behaved; it is awesome to see such good character from all you guys and gals.

We are working on getting the pictures all processed and uploaded. There are almost 600 pictures! We’re also making an online voting system for the Best Dressed Contest, and figuring out what to do with all the competition entries.

Congratulations to Nikole at Sunset for winning the Golden Ticket grand prize: her very own CAN Computer!

Mrs. DuFloth’s 5th grade classroom has reached 100% membership… every student in the class is a CAN Member!  To celebrate this awesome fact, CAN is hosting a party in the classroom this Thursday.  Amos and a bunch of high school students are bringing in a whole stack of pizzas from Pizza on the Run, setting up DDR, and hanging out for an hour or so.  It will be a blast!
