It is said that “it takes a whole village to raise a child.”
It also takes a whole community to change attitudes about substance abuse.
Cody C.A.N. is dedicated to forging a community-wide effort to help support students in their decision to remain drug-free. It is important that students know they are supported all the time, not only when they are at school but also when they are at home and when they are out in the community. Every supporter of Cody CAN helps to strengthen the positive choices made by Cody students!
CAN’s daily operations are mostly funded by private donations from people who care about the future of Cody students. But all the funding in the world can’t make much of an impact without tangible support from everyone involved in the students lives, and there are many ways which local people can support Cody CAN.
Local business owners are particularly important. Dozens of Cody businesses offer discounts or other incentives to CAN Members as a tangible show of support. Every time a CAN Member saves a little bit on a pizza or gets extra snacks at the movies they are reminded that the community recognizes and appreciates their decision to be drug-free.
Cody teachers and other school staff are also important supporters of the CAN program. By signing up as associate CAN Members, these people are using the respect they have earned from the students to demonstrate positive choices.
Of course, the most important support any child can recieve is at home. Families ARE the most influential force in a student’s life. Families do everything they can to encourage positive choices in their homes; CAN is here to make sure those choices are supported everywhere else in Cody too!
